Finding a Word

Happy New Year, everyone! We just returned from a week of spending time with family. We rang in the New Year at midnight with fireworks. We attended a church as visitors, since we were out of the area for our own church. These are all good things. I do not recognize how blessed I am. I went to a women's retreat last fall. The main speaker challenged all of us to find our "word for the year." (I do not know when this trend started, and I have never participated in it before.) We were to find our word by praying about it, asking God to reveal it. I think I have mine. GRATEFUL

The Bible does not include "grateful' very often, but it does use other words like "thankful" and "thanksgiving". I want to incorporate all of these this year., looking up Scripture verses to memorize and incorporate into my life. Often in my prayers, I ask God for things, but do not thank Him.

Has God revealed to you something to help you get your focus back on Him?

27 This phrase, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of things that are shaken—that is, things that have been made—in order that the things that cannot be shaken may remain.28 Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe,29 for our God is a consuming fire.

Hebrews 12:27-29 (English Standard Version)
