God Knows

And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. Romans 8:26 (New Living Translation)

At the church I grew up in, we started doing a 24-hour prayer vigil. Different people would sign up to take an hour to pray for others. Everyone had an opportunity to write down their prayer requests before the vigil, and they were all typed out so that the prayer warriors could pray for specific needs and wants. Some requests were made by anonymous people. We prayed for them. There were also people who would put their names down, but their requests were not specific. They would just write "God knows." We prayed for them too.

God knows our struggles. He knows our feelings. He knows our thoughts, even when they all seem jumbled up in our own heads. He sent the Holy Spirit for us to help us. More times than I am willing to share, I have struggled with my thoughts and feelings. My circumstances seemed to get the best of me. I wanted to be in control of every situation. I wanted to know how to deal. I wanted to be able to solve all of my problems. Yet, I could not do it alone. I could not do any of it alone. I prayed silently to God, only sobs being heard. The Holy Spirit went before me, expressing all that I could not. I gave everything to Him. He knew what I was going through and was not going to let me do it alone. He knew my mind and my heart, and He also knew what needed to be done, even when I did not.

I continue to rely on God. I know that He knows, even when I do not.

31 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs.33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

Matthew 6:31-33 (New Living Translation)
