This morning, I was approached with a video that was calling out Christians on things the Video's author claimed were "not in the Bible." It was presented as an "in your face, here's the facts, deal with it" kind of presentation, claiming to be from a biblical standpoint. Within moments, I was able to refute it, not merely with the Word, but with the attitude and action behind it. And yet, the person who presented it said "So many of my friends are posting it." Why was she able to see something wrong, I was able to find the wrong in it, and so many others are not? It's because Satan is still using his oldest trick: "Did God Really say that?" In the Garden, Adam and Eve were deceived because they were led to question God's word. In this world, we're still there. We have every word printed in nearly every language known to man (even the original languages!) and yet we're still led away by that age-old question: "Did God really say that? Is that what he meant? Surely he meant something else!" And people go with it, because, unfortunately, they don't want to be transformed by the Word, but rather choose to use the Word to try and justify themselves. We need to stand upon the truth! The only way we can have a defense is to know, intimately, the Word of God. We need to seek Jesus out daily through the Word, hide His words in our hearts, use it as the "lamp unto our feet and light unto our paths." Satan is a master deceiver (It's literally in his name). He constantly is trying to pull us from Spirit to flesh. The only way we can see through the deception is through the lens of Scripture. God has the answers, go to His word and hold fast to them! Matthew 7:15-20
“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.16 You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.
John 8:39-47
They answered him, “Abraham is our father.” Jesus said to them, “If you were Abraham's children, you would be doing the works Abraham did, but now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. This is not what Abraham did. You are doing the works your father did.” They said to him, “We were not born of sexual immorality. We have one Father—even God.” Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and I am here. I came not of my own accord, but he sent me. Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you cannot bear to hear my word. You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies. But because I tell the truth, you do not believe me. Which one of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me? Whoever is of God hears the words of God. The reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God.”
