The enemy wants us looking at the world. He, after all, helped us break it. I think most people recognize that something is terribly wrong with it, but we look at how WE can fix it. Unfortunately, being the ones that broke it in the first place, we're ill equipped to do so. You see, in the beginning, God defined it all as "good" and "very good." It wasn't good enough for us, we began defining for ourselves what was good, and our acts became increasingly wicked and evil as a result: we were choosing for ourselves, and anyone in our way was expendable. Here we are, many, many generations from Adam, and we're still doing the same thing. Even our most charitable acts are done for selfish reasons; we try to remove God from the equation, and to bring justice, equity, or resources to one group, we must marginalize another, steal from another, diminish another. It causes more anguish and more strife along the way, and undoes what it says out to do. This goes against God's design of humanity and Himself walking and working together to bring about more "good" to His very good world. What, then is the solution? How do we, knowing the problem, work to correct it? What is our hope? Truth be told, we complicate things too much. Our hope is in nothing and no one less than Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ alone, not policy or charity, or any such thing can bring about "good." When people come to Him, and worship the Father in Spirit and Truth, equity begins by work of the Holy Spirit. Those who were divided by ethnicity, or nationality, or gender, or any other division are now one people, working together alongside Christ to build the Kingdom set before us from the foundation of the world. We love one another (and this happens far more than the world wants us to believe in the church), we look after one another's welfare, we, under the Kingship of Christ, begin to supernaturally display the qualities we desired when we were apart from Him. It is through Living the word of Christ, under the Kingship of Christ that all things are made new, not by human effort. Let us then, seek Jesus, and love one another as He commands. Then we will see the wrongs righted. The world will act as it always does. God's Kingdom changes, renews and restores everything! 1 Peter 2:1-12 So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander. Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation— if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good.
As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For it stands in Scripture:
“Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious, and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame.”
So the honor is for you who believe, but for those who do not believe,
“The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,”
and
“A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense.”
They stumble because they disobey the word, as they were destined to do.
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.
