The Word vs. the World

Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by the same sort of disobedience. For the word of God is living and active,sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account. Hebrews 4:11-13

Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. But as for you,continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom[a]you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God[b]may be complete,equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:12-17 There's a global pandemic in the church. No, it doesn't come from a virus, but it DOES let the world infect the members of the Body. Plain and simple, this pandemic comes from ignorance of Scripture. The Early church was not a literate church, however, they took to heart the teachings of the scripture, sought to memorize and share the teachings of Jesus and the letters of the Apostles. They devoted themselves to it, and so their lives reflected the Word, and they became more and more distant from the world. The world and all in it is passing away, and so it troubles me to see more and more Christians (I myself have not been immune to this either) inviting the world to inform how they run their life, inform their decision making, and raise their families. This needs to stop! Joshua challenged all of Israel with these words, and now I do the same to you, beloved reader:  “Now therefore fear the Lord and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness.Put away the gods that your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord,choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell.But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:14-15)

It is by the Scriptures that we receive power; For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. (Romans 1:16). It is by the Scriptures that God increases our Faith; Faith comes by hearing, and hearing from the word of God, (Romans 10:17). It is by the Word that the Spirit gives us Life: Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart, since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God; for

“All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls,  but the word of the Lord remains forever.”

And this word is the good news that was preached to you. 1 Peter 1:22-25 When the world informs your walk with Christ, it is not Christ you have or seek. If the Word informs your walk with Christ, you will find Him, for He is the Word of God, and in every book of The Bible you will find Him. It is not political ignorance that kills a Christian walk, but biblical ignorance. Know the Son through the Scriptures.
