Uniquely, Fearfully, and Wonderfully Made.

Each coin minted by the US government has a serial number and a face upon it. Usually the face us sine past president, but, at times, they have minted coins of influencers in our nation (the Susan B. Anthony Dollar, for example). Jesus, when asked about taxes (this is not about taxes, I promise!), made this very point, but drew us to another conclusion: coins are minted in the likeness of human kings, we are minted and stamped in the very image of God. Psalm 139 has this to say about it: For you formed my inward parts;

you knitted me together in my mother's womb.

I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.[a]

Wonderful are your works;

my soul knows it very well.

My frame was not hidden from you,

when I was being made in secret,

intricately woven in the depths of the earth.

Your eyes saw my unformed substance;

in your book were written, every one of them,

the days that were formed for me,

when as yet there was none of them. (Psalm 139: 13-16) Each individual on this earth is unique, fearfully and wonderfully minted in the image of their creator. When we feel anxious, or depressed, worthless or any other such self-depreciating feeling, let us then force our attention back to our maker an creator. The Author of Hebrews reminds us that we need to be "looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God" (Hebrews 12:2). He endured shame, suffering, and more, and why? So He can occupy the throne we gave up in our sin and rebellion, which restores that Image of Almighty God we were designed to be, and brings us back to Himself. You are THAT important to God. You are that unique. So if Christ did this for us-both lived a life free of sin and rebellion and then died for your sin and rebellion- should we not give all to Him? Should we not live in the Image by which we were created and by the name to which we are all called? You are fearfully and wonderfully made. Don't waste it!
