Wandering in to Myths

I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. 1 Timothy 4: 1-5 It's Amazing to me that the more people try to disprove Scripture as being false, the more we see the world, Christians and otherwise, proving its necessity, over and again. We have advanced technologically, but we have not changed much. We still consider ourselves to be supreme, we still destroy one another over trivial and inconsequential issues, and we still propagate lies and falsehoods, so long as it fits the world view we desire to live. Paul had us pegged, didn't he? We accumulate teachers for ourselves that suit our own passions, we believe lies, so long as it supports what we desire to believe, we wander off in to myths. What can we do? With sober-minded judgement, let the word be what you stand upon! Don't merely read or memorize it, study it, make it integrate in to your life, let it inform every decision you make! Otherwise, we allow ourselves to be blown by any wind of doctrine that sounds right (enough). We as the people of the Word, the Children of God, will always be outcasts, why? Because the darkness can't abide the light! It's not up to us to dress up the Gospel to make it attractive, we need to simply preach it! Stand upon God's truth, and the lies of the world will not have an effect. Jesus is enough. Live like it!
