Is The World Seeing Christ in You?

In our Sunday Morning Sermons, as well as in my personal study, we are going over the last sermon of Christ (John 12-17), as we enter the Easter Holiday. Something that struck me is that we will see Christ as we are obedient to Him, and the Holy Spirit will teach us of Him and show Him to us. As I’m reading, I can’t help but wonder: if the Holy Spirit shows US Christ, shouldn’t we, then be showing the world Christ because the Holy Spirit lives in us? How they respond doesn’t matter. The ones who had been entrusted to the Law and Prophets missed out on the visitation of their messiah because they were enamored of the religion they created to follow God and His laws. But if we are walking in the Spirit, shouldn’t the world see Christ in us?Paul told Timothy that we were not given a spirit of fear, but of power, love and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7). The Holy Spirit, sent from Christ who speaks to us what the Father speaks to Christ, lives inside of us. Why are we so timid? Why are we so fearful? What is the worst that can happen, death? And then, we are in the presence of Christ. The Holy Spirit lives in us. Let us walk, as Jesus did, in that power, love and self-control. Let us show the world Christ, who lived, died and rose again on our behalf. Let us not be afraid, but walk in the power of the Holy Spirit, and in the name of Jesus Christ.

Galatians 2:15-21

We ourselves are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners; yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.

But if, in our endeavor to be justified in Christ, we too were found to be sinners, is Christ then a servant of sin? Certainly not! For if I rebuild what I tore down, I prove myself to be a transgressor. For through the law I died to the law, so that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness were through the law, then Christ died for no purpose.

2 Timothy 1:1-14

Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God according to the promise of the life that is in Christ Jesus,

To Timothy, my beloved child:

Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

I thank God whom I serve, as did my ancestors, with a clear conscience, as I remember you constantly in my prayers night and day. As I remember your tears, I long to see you, that I may be filled with joy. I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well. For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God, who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began, and which now has been manifested through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, for which I was appointed a preacher and apostle and teacher, which is why I suffer as I do. But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until that day what has been entrusted to me. Follow the pattern of the sound words that you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. By the Holy Spirit who dwells within us, guard the good deposit entrusted to you.
