Live As You Are Called

It seems that, in the West at least, we live in a politically charged atmosphere. Every 4 Years, people who confess Christ to be King divide themselves up 2 and 3 ways, and yell at one another for their voting choices. I have news for you, if you didn't know this already, there is no verse in the Bible that says "vote your conscience" (and there is no 2 Assumptions 2:22). There is no Bible Verse that states any one country apart from Israel is chosen by God, and if you look at what is supposed to come, I would not envy that choice. So why do we place so much in Real Estate that is passing away? I'm just going to come right out and say it: we do this because our world view is limited by what we see, not by the measure of faith given to us. We look at the fires, the corruption, the opposing viewpoints, the issues of the day and say "this must be what I'm here to fight for." Yet, if we look to what we are actually called to do, we're called to fulfill the Great Commandment, the Great Commission, and the New Commandment. In order: You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 22: 37-40) And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20) A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:24-35) God doesn't need our help, he requires our obedience. Be good citizens. Do your civic duty, but be unified in love. Live the Great Commandment day to day, accomplish the Great Commission as you go on your way, and show the world who you belong to by fulfilling the New Commandment. Live as you are called.
